What Is My IP Address

Why is my IP different from what my router shows?

Your router shows your local (private) IP. This tool shows your public IP — the address the rest of the internet sees. If you're behind NAT (most home networks), these will be different.

Can I hide my IP address?

Yes, by using a VPN, proxy, or Tor. These services route your traffic through their servers, so websites see the intermediary's IP instead of yours.
